A letter to my 10-year-old self.

Dear 10-year-old self,

Don’t just study hard. Fall in love with learning. The world has more to teach you than you can ever imagine.

Imagine. That universe of make-believe you’ve created in your head will one day be the driving force of your reality. The toys you now own, the games you now play…they’ll help you re-create the world you see. And re-create it for others.

Keep creating. There is nothing more satisfying than surveying the old, the novel, the similar, the unrelated, the universal, the disparate, the mundane, the vivacious, and assembling them into something beautiful. Because isn’t that what you are, in the first place?

Dream. Of who, what and where you want to be. Take this dreamed-up self and place it in every environment, with every group of people. Then make it better.

Learn music. Love music. Now. You’re already late.

Eat like there’s no tomorrow. The sad day will come when you can’t anymore.

Take more photographs. Even the best of memories fade.

Choose wisely. You are, at every point in your life, the sum of all your decisions.

Your ICQ number will be 13153019. For goodness’ sake, think of a better email address. And an IRC nickname. Don’t buy that stupid Tamagotchi. Baggy jeans are not fashionable. The jokes in Animaniacs mean much more than you can understand right now. The Yellow Ranger dies.
